From my little guy to a young man. I’ve been all in my feels today y’all. 🥹 I’m beyond proud of the man I’m witnessing him becoming everyday- compassionate, thoughtful, kind, and courageous. He requested a very low key birthday: presents, @mcdonalds, cupcakes, and a trip to the park. And I delivered on all of the above.

2023 was a year of great struggle, huge change, and intense loss. To quote @patiencetamarra I did the best I could with what I had, even when I didn’t have much. Even still, I’m grateful for the small pockets of joy that came our way and for the handful of family and friends that helped to lift our spirits when needed.

And then she was 15 🎂

I’m always emotional when my kids’ birthdays come around but this year Moo’s birthday hit hard. It’s surreal that we have 3 more years left before she adulthood and we’re both struggling a bit with that fact. Nevertheless, I’m incredibly proud of my first born. The child sent to me during a tine when I really needed a reason to just keep swimming. I can’t wait to see what adventures Year 16 has in store for her.

Earlier this year, the kids requested a trip to the beach because Bud had never been to the actual beach front. Idk how we managed that. Anyways, we decided to journey to the Land of Lovers aka VA and had a super chill day of laying out on the beach, building sand castles, and hunting for sea shells. 🏖️

The harvest. It’s one of the things I love most

The harvest. It’s one of the things I love most about gardening. The other thing I love about gardening is how it teaches us lessons that can be applied to everyday life.

Since starting this mission to grow 30% of our produce, I’ve been reminded that same way we improve our garden harvest by sowing seeds with love, gentleness, and patience, the same is true when it comes to people. Love, patience, and a whole lot if gentleness can go a long way.

My little guy is officially no longer a little guy. He’s going through a voice change and a growth spurt. His love for @thomasandfriends remains still tho.

He’s also gotten more into filmmaking and animation. I can’t wait to see how this passion blooms. Here’s to Year 13. Happy Birthday, Bud 🎂

Somewhere between the holidays and New Year's, I decided that I was finally tired was being in survival mode. I didn't want this year to be a dumpster fire like years past. I told myself that 2023 was going to be my level up year. The year of thriving, healing, peace, genuine happiness, deep belly laughs, joy abundant, wealth building, and new beginnings and new adventures. So, here's to all my survivors who are choosing to thrive!

The kids have been asking to ”go home” more and more lately and I’ve been obliging them. Raising city kids in the country has been a challenge. But they’ve been amazingly good sports about it. As much as I enjoy the openness and quiet of the country, the city is where we’ll always long to be.
